Applied Computer Solutions(ACS)
This Dallas-based, multinational computer services outsourcing company retained Goff + Associates as its local representative to help guide them in their response to the City of Milwaukee's RFP for parking ticket management services. This 10-year, multimillion dollar contract is one of the largest let by the City as well as one of the largest in the country. Our work includes creating linkages for ACS with political and community leaders as well as advising them on strategies to give the company the optimal advantage in this highly competitive bid.
Aurora Healthcare
Goff + Associates assisted the state’s largest healthcare provider and employer in easing public concerns over the acquisition of a community-based hospital in southeastern Wisconsin. We developed a team of “ambassadors” from the ranks of Aurora employees who lived in the target area and trained them to gather information through their ongoing community activities. This information was used by Aurora to disseminate information on their plans, dispel rumors and insure a smooth transition of ownership.
Browning-Ferris Industries
When this multi-national company sought to compete for a the waste recycling program Goff + Associates was enlisted to coordinate its political and community-relations strategies as well as develop an overall plan for response to the Request for Proposal. Our work guided BFI through its logistics decision-making and ultimately helped bring them to the correct decision to decline its submission, saving the company significant time and money in an unworthy effort.
Cellnet Technology
This Atlanta-based wireless infrastructure company has rapidly emerged as one of the country's leaders in construction of city-wide wi-fi systems. Goff & Associates has been retained to handle governmental relations, public relations and project management for Cellnet as it contracted with municipalities in Wisconsin and elsewhere to provide wi-fi based Internet services to the public. When Delta Airlines received a hostile takeover bid by US Airlines, Goff + Associates was retained as part of the nationwide team to develop grassroots support for Delta and generate calls and letters opposing U.S. Airline's move. We contacted business and affinity groups to disseminate information on the issue as well as served as liaison between Delta and selected media.
Florida Referendums
Our firm was an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team than managed statewide and local option referendums to provide $500 million a year in new education funding through putting slot machines in pari-mutuel tracks in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. This controversial initiative drew both strong support and opposition from a wide variety of organizations and political figures. Among the most vocal opponents was the governor of the state. Despite having failed three previous times over a 30-year period, this referendum passed statewide in November, 2004 and in one of the two local option counties in March, 2005.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Goff + Associates was enlisted by this nationwide organization to coordinate Wisconsin's grassroots efforts to defeat a bill in the U.S. Senate that would have severely limited the ability of researchers to continue with therapeutic stem cell research. As part of a ten-state effort we contacted and organized a wide range of interested individuals and organizations in the state to voice their concerns to Congressional representatives about the bill, which was ultimately voted down.
Mauston, Wisconsin Tourism Branding
The innkeepers in this Central-Wisconsin city were in need of a theme to attract recreational tourists year-round while playing on the area's proximity to the Wisconsin Dells. Goff + Associates created an "Unwind at the Un-Dells" promotional package that included brochures, a website and billboards to emphasize the relaxing and low-stress nature of the area.
Perini Building Company
This internationally-known developer, in partnership with Boldt Construction, retained Goff + Associates as lead public relations counsel in its effort to obtain a $250 million contract to build Milwaukee’s new convention center. We advised Perini/Boldt on strategies in developing its proposal within the context of the political climate of the local and state governments who were decision-makers in the competition.
Renaissant Development Corp
When this prominent Chicago-based real estate developer sought to construct its first condominium complex in Milwaukee it turned to Goff + Associates for assistance in creating positive relations with members of a nearby historic preservation organization. We created a communications conduit between local residents and Renaissant to insure no opposition would surface during critical approval hearings. The complex, consisting of two 20-story towers mixed with townhouses, was subsequently approved by unanimous vote by all City regulatory bodies and the Common Council. After construction began Goff + Associates continued to serve as part of the marketing team for the project.
S.C. Johnson & Son (“Johnson Wax”)
This worldwide manufacturer of household products has been a major force behind efforts to extend Chicago’s Metra commuter rail into southeastern Wisconsin to serve the employees at its corporate headquarters as well as those of other companies. S.C. Johnson engaged Goff + Associates to develop and implement strategies to build the corporate, civic and political support necessary to make this line a reality.
School Choice - Milwaukee Archdiocese
As Wisconsin led the nation in the movement towards school choice, The Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee engaged Goff + Associates to organize parents, administrators and others from its schools to lobby their legislators for passage of related legislation. We held training sessions with parent groups in methods of communicating with elected officials and the media that eventually led to enactment of school choice bills in the state.
Stevens Construction
When attempting to construct the High Ridge office building on land owned by Milwaukee County, Stevens Construction was confronted by an ad-hoc environmental group whose motives were suspect. We worked closely with the company and local public officials to resolve issues and clarify key points that led to final approval of the project.
South African Breweries – SAB Miller, plc
When the world’s second-largest brewery acquired Miller Brewing Company it retained Goff + Associates to ease the transition of ownership. Our work included advising SAB on local priorities and serving as liaison between SAB and the community, particularly in opening new lines of communication with key members of the media.
Wireless Industry
At different times two major providers of wireless services, PSC PrimeCo (now Verizon) and Sprint PCS, engaged Goff + Associates to assist in siting of communication towers and obtaining other government permits in the construction of their phone systems. We also developed important business leads for the companies as they sought contracts with major corporate clients.
Wisconsin Credit Union League
This statewide trade association of credit unions was in need to communicate with its members the need to develop grass-roots support for pending state and federal legislation. We organized legislative contact meetings, created a video news release and established media appearances for credit union representatives.
Wisconsin Paperboard Company
This 100 year-old paper recycling company retained Goff + Associates to ease neighborhood concerns over its plans to construct a new storage facility in an environmentally-sensitive area adjacent to a public preservation site. We served as liaison with local elected officials, developed informational brochures and conducted community meetings aimed at helping the company receive necessary easements and permits for construction.
